Slip in after 17 days

Hello all, first time poster!
I never had a quit date I just couldn't be bothered going to the shops for smokes. For about a week I barely felt the urge to smoke so I thought I could fly with it as solid quit attempt.
During the day with some changes to my habits I find it easy to not smoke but then night and lethargy comes and the cravings kick into over drive.
At night I use the nicorette inhalator to take the edge off, but then came day 17 and I was a little tipsy. I smoked that night but gave the rest of my cigs away and have resumed my quit attempt.
People have shamed me for my slip up, mostly current smokers. I don't feel bad though, it's an addiction so slip ups happen. As long as you don't slip back into being a full time smoker because of the slip up then it is progress.
Just my thoughts. Thanks :)

Yeah exactly, slip ups are part of the way if they happend.. Continue on your way to freedom, and I hope you will end up with - I can have a smoke, but I don't want.. Best luck to you..

You are doing really well Cassie, get back on your horse, and make your commitment stronger, by keeping the Mantra in your mind or on paper every day. NOPE (not one puff ever) it works. Do not let your mind think that one day you can manage and another you can not. Nicotine has taught you to hold onto the cigarette for relief or relaxation. Congratulations on 17 days smoke free.

Congratulations on your quit and continuing on after a slip. Nicotine is highly addictive, so you don't want to tempt fate. Instead read our stories and find even more desire to quit. This kind of positive thinking and mindset can make it easier .

Congratulations on 17 days smoke free Cassie, there are positives you came take from your slip up,you’ve identified that it’s at night your most vulnerable, and when you’ve had a drink, try to avoid drinking for a while until your confidence grows with your quit, after a while your desire to smoke in the evening will pass, but in the meantime have things on hand to do for when the cravings kick in,I used to wash up and clean when my cravings got bad,but they pass and in time get less and less, cut some carrot up and when you get a craving eat a piece of carrot, that worked for me also, excersise is great for your mind,I choose to run as my release mentally, but walking is great too,it releases positive chemicals to the brain and helps with positivity. These are just a few suggestions for you to try which helped me quit, you can do this, and one thing is for sure,it does get easier,I stopped cold turkey nearly 6 months ago,and I’ve never felt so good for as long as I can remember.and you will too, good luck,Nope- NOT ONE PUFF EVER
