I'm confident that I can quit... I believe in myself.
G'day,
I thought I'd write this to help myself in my journey to quit smoking.
Just like everyone on this page, I am addicted to smoking cigarettes. I have been smoking on and off since a very young age for about 10 years now but throughout the past 2 years it has become a problem and has affected my mental and physical health.
I value my physical health and mental health a lot and smoking impedes by ability to eat well and train as I have the mentality that "if I smoke, then I may as well eat poorly and not train... I can start next monday".
How ever, these past two weeks, I have learnt a lot and finally believe in myself. The fact of the matter is that there is no such thing as "a perfect monday". If I want to quit, then it begins right now and it doesn't come easy.
I am stronger than my cravings. I am stronger than an addiction. I will quit because I want to be healthy mentally and physically again.
If you're reading this; I believe in you, it's time to believe in yourself. I will quit and you will too. We will quit.

Welcome to the forum Seymour, you have a fantastic attitude to lead you into your quit, the advice I will give you is to read the quit journeys of some of the people on the forum and take the tips and pointers and advice that’s given to assist you in your quit, good luck and I look foreword to reading your future posts along your quit journey
Remember and use our Mantra,NOPE,NOT ONE PUFF EVER,say it to yourself every single day, through your weak times(if you get any,you may well not) but one thing to remember through the early days is that it does get easierand easier as the days and weeks go by,
Good luck
Steve

You can quit smoking as so many of us here have proven. You are not alone in this journey, nor are you an exception. We all started with doubt, but self confidence is your greatest weapon. As suggested, read our stories, and the comments given to learn about what to expect and how to overcome some bumps in the road. Think N.O.P.E and think POSITVE. Knowledge is power and the mindset makes it easier in so many ways. Don't forget to check in months from now and help others to find their freedom. Checking in also helps to keep you on the right path too!

As said by New chapter welcome Seymour, and g'day to you too. I am glad you are learning a lot about NIcotine the most insidious drug which keeps you hooked and keeps you running on that treadmill. I hope you are learning more through reading our posts online, and also creating a better life for yourself. We are not perfect but we can help ourselves to become more accepting about our selves and others.
Our role is to learn about ourselves and about others who are on the same journey as yourself. I came to the realization that I could be a happy non smoker, and a video called "how to become a happy non smoker" by NASIA DAVOS u-tube TEDxUniversityofPiraeus. was invaluable for mental and physical help.
Your attitude is now ready for success and should be an easy journey with the help of others on this website.
Good on you New Chapter, the website has a problem, I think if you press enter or return after you post. So just press post and go straight back to the stories and experiences at the top of the page.
Hey guys,
I wish I could individually reply to you all! I just wanted to say that I'm super grateful and overwhelmed by all of your support. When I initially posted this, I felt like it would help me to clear my mind and put all my thoughts and feelings on to the page, where it's cemented and means something.
Thank you for all of your replies, you have taught me lots; like the mantras. It also feels good to have another source of support, one I never thought I would've had.
Once again, cheers and I'm excited to start my journey to getting my health back in order. We got this!
