Decided to postpone my quit date

I am on one week down on champix and stupidly thought I could quit with only one week of it in my system.
Although I do have the desire to quit, I need to be patient as I have been smoking for over 10 years now so a couple of weeks is not going to hurt. Champix has decreased my pleasure in smoking and from past experience will make the coming week a lot easier to quit as the pleasure will turn to revulsion slowly but surely. In conjunction with champix, I am listening to Allen Carr’s Easyway to stop smoking plan. As this will be my third attempt on champix, I intend to double down and make this my final attempt. My new quit date has been scheduled for 9/11.

Be patient and learn the mindset. Read. It is not just about the nicotine addiction but the understanding that you will not miss out on anything once quitting smoking. It has been an illusion, brought on my the drug. Smoking does no good whatsoever for us. Look forward to this journey, the many benefits and the freedom you will get to enjoy as a noon-smoker! Congratulations on your great decision to join the ranks. You CAN quit smoking!

Ah! Himali, Pleasure is something we all love to have in our lives for sure, your pleasures will need to be looked at more in-depth than before, because the Champix dumbs this down, but does not let you off the hook in deciding that the cigarette brings you pleasure - this is an illusion we put all emphasis on why we need that cigarette, but indeed the cigarette and the Nicotine in them needs you more.
Make no mistake you will need to work out your own distinct style of redesigning your day and your urges to the pleasure receptors in your brain, the Champix does this to a degree, but you need to make it stick long term. Champix is also good in that there is no nicotine involved, but it is the habits we have learned that need to be unlearned and new ones put in place.
You will also need to make a date to stop the Champix, so planning this is in order too. You do need patience but you also need to achieve different ways to give yourself this happiness that you desire, at the end of every day, I wrote down one thing that brought me pleasure, you will be surprised how long your list grows. Reward yourself in different ways, you will find this list grows too. So work on this as you go along. Come back again when you feel the need to, or when you discover something new about yourself.

Hi Verydifficult, I have had this exact issue. My specialist reckons it’s all down to anxiety but it feels sooooo real!
If I may recommend Charles Linden’s The Linden Nethod. It’s amazing! All the best!
