After chaining for 47 years I went cold turkey for 4 days. Thought I was so smart before having a giant meltdown & smoking 4 cigarettes while shaking with rage.

This morning, woke up happy again, told myself happy birthday, now put a patch on & get back up on the horse.

For the first time ever I'm not berating myself as a failure. Me thinks I'm a much happier more relaxed person today. Even if I'm another year older.

Happy Birthday Patches. You are getting better not just older. Wiser too! Good for you for making that change we put off for decades. You beat the fear that leaves most to even seriously contemplate quitting smoking. Surprisingly, it is not as hard as we might expect. Unfortunately , you had the meltdown but Congratulations on picking yourself up and continuing on.

Read our stories and continue to learn about yourself and smoking, how smoking never did anything for us and how we can find our way back to health and freedom. Embracing this concept, Changing how you feel about smoking is just as if not more important that weaning yourself from the addiction of nicotine.

You can quit smoking....we are proof.

Aww. Thank you happiness. Bless your little cotton socks.

Actually my smokes did do a lot for a lonely old lady. But like my exciting, bad boy, attractive handsome & alluring exes, they just lead to no good & sucked the bank account dry.

Hmm. I'm seeing a pattern here. Haha.

Welcome Patches, so glad to have you here with us all, I can relate to the meltdown on one of my previous quits, and realized that I needed to find a more calm approach to life and non smoking, this led me to mediation which has helped me so many times. I am glad you woke up happy now you need to keep this happy feeling everday. There are many of us to help you succeed with this approach. Keep in touch

Thanks softly 40. I do a little bit of mindfulness to accept the craving & get full on into it. It takes the sting out of it. I ditched the patches a week ago & went through the whole major 4 day withdrawal all over again. I feel a bit better the last 2 days. Finally no more obsessing about smoking all day.
