I've got to win this

Posted in Getting started
schedule 5 May 2020

So I have been 'wanting' to quit for years. I don't think I have gone more than a day or maybe a week without a cigarette. BUT this is the first time I have sat down and read this entire website.

My willpower sucks. I have read you can train your willpower so I am going to start with that.

Things that I worry about when thinking about quitting.

*Willpower or lack of..

*My mental health is shoddy at the best of times. I worry about the anxiety being stronger.

Wow I thought I would have a long list but that is all I can think of right now.

Reasons I want to quit

*Health

*$$$$$$$$

So I will hopefully come back to this tomorrow night, read more and plan for a brighter future.

Lol. so you haven't read all of our stories! That is procranstination! As wonderful as the stories are, every quit is different. Those who struggle and those who do not. Once the mindset , or way of thinking is needed, there is no need of willpower as such. Determination, and want or desire because it can get rough, but you will have ways of coping with it, enduring it, using it and conquering it. Click on my name and find my post of "Giving up, Giving Up , Try This" for some easy starting points. Read Allan Carr's book which you can buy on-line and free if you are lucky enough to find it. It masy initially cost $14 dollars I think, like a packet of smokes that you will save a thousand fold very quickly. Whereever you can learn about you and nicotine, how we were drugged and brainwashed , trapped of our own minds but can free ourselves much easier than we had been told and believed. Looking at things from a different perspective. Plan ahead, gain confidence and most of all believe you can do this .

Smoking causes anxiety and keeps you broke and unhealthy. Why not research ways to help with the anxiety as well... food, meditation, execise, music and the scent of lavender. Chocolate makes us happy, dark cocoa powder mixed with banana and frozen (10) makes nice little treats and are good for you (in moderation). Cutting coffee in half when not using nicotine will curb the jitters. Kinda contradictory there.

I truly believe that ginger and turmeric helped to curb cravings , but I today would take them in a delicious tea of milk and honey. Wonderful antioxidants. Contributing here gave me a new habit and learning raises dopamine, the same as chocolate.

The things we learn. As you will read, you will find many reasons to quit smoking besides health and $$$$.

Enjoy the read. Make your plan. Keep in touch, and let us know how you are doing. Without stories, we would have no iCanQuit site. Most of all remember you too can quit smoking. Believe!
