Slowly getting there

August 06, 2019 | 7:45
Hi there everybody. I am on day 15 of Champix and was feeling that the side effects weren't worth it any more so searched for guidance online.
Wow, I have read through some comments and could just keep going.
I am down to around 3-4 cigarettes a day now but feel I could drop to one in the morning one at night which is my goal by the end of this week. I have multiple reasons to quit, and good reasons at that so reminding myself of why I need to get through these symptoms works.
I am having weird dreams, not nightmares as such and night sweats which cause discomfort and wake me up multiple times a night.
I have noticed my bad mood after taking the night pill too. It was recommended by my doctor for me to take this in the afternoon to avoid any sleep disruptions and so far so good on that front.
Anyway, if there is anybody out there in the same boat, please, any suggestions to relax, get through the hard craving times. I would deeply appreciate it.
What an amazing website, so happy I found it!

I am so happy that you are finding the website helpful and encouraging. There are others here more qualified to answer your questions about Nrt 's and their effects but I can tell you that the best thing to read and understand yourself and nicotine is Allan Carr which i have posted a link to under my story title "Allan Carr". Learning how you became addicted and understanding how smoking has never ever done anything for you helps you to let go of the past and look towards a future of freedom and health. You DO have a CHOICE. Don't feel that you are giving up anything, for you are not. CHOOSE a better way of life with better health, wealth and pride!
Accepting the journey instead of fearing it makes all the difference. It is the best thing you have and will ever do for yourself. Believe and think positive. I never thought i could quit after over 40 years, but seeing others achieve it makes it a real possibility and not just wishful thinking. You can do this!

Sounds like a good goal Creative8. I am on Champix but past the 15 day mark. I relinqished the night dose after 2 weeks and stayed on one in the morning. This still worked for me because nothing is worse than being tired while you are trying to achieve something. The bad mood was most likely due to lack of sleep. You might consider this an option if you dont get any relief. Ask your doctor or Chemist first.
Keep a list of your reasons in front of you and choose one that seems to stand out on that particular day. This will create an action plan in your mind to help you achieve this.
As Happiness has mentioned a good book to start learning about your own particular relationship with Nicotine is by Allan Carr.
Another tip is to look forward to something special every day this will create a happy mood rather than the opposite. Of course as you read through the book you will realize that the best thing is to be free of Nicotine in your body. Still early days yet but try to get rid of the cigarettes when you have a clear day or relaxing weekend in front of you. Congratulations and stick to your goals.

Thanks so much. I had seen alot of people recommend this book so will go and find it now!
