1st day!

Hi, I am day1 without a cigarette, not even 24hrs without one yet and already I’m struggling. I know it’s just the nicotine cravings but this is going to be a long & hard journey. My husband & I have decided to quit cold turkey & do it together. But that doesn’t mean it will be any easier as I’m more of a heavy smoker than he is.
Wish me luck!

Hi B . I am sure that i all here will support you the best we can, but giving up smoking has nothing at all to do with luck. Nor will willpower alone do it. I do hope that you and hubby have both been with us a while and reading the posts or have some idea as to what nicotine addiction is. Believe me, i am not trying to discourage you, but is is a journey in which you must be not only be wholly committed to , but psychologically willing to take on. Tomorrow, one will seemingly win by outlasting the other, but are either of you really in it to win it?
To win and reap the benefits of this challenge, you must become happy non-smokers. That is by believing and wanting what is best for you and your family and loved ones for the rest of your life and committing to it. There is no greater reward. Ask those who have done it. We are so thankful that we did and are rewarded each and every day for our beating the devil.
Are you both on an Nrt? If not, don't despair because even aids like that require a forum and knowledge to succeed. You have taken a great first step . You are here and now have many others supporting you, even if some are not so vocal as i.
You have made a commitment to each other as spouses and now to us. Personally i would rather you really take the time and initiative to read and learn and be more prepared to take on the journey and succeed than to enter it on a mere whim. You are here , and have both expressed your desire to succeed. Good news is that you can. Read and learn. Knowledge is power. Proceed as you desire, but never give up. You can quit. We are here and so are you now apparently. As far as i am concerned it is the best step you could have ever taken.
Anyone can quit smoking. Believe it is possible. Never give up. We believe in you. Believe in yourself!

Thanks for the support Happiness. Much appreciated!
My 1st post was extremely vague about my ‘quitting experience’ as I have never written/blogged/posted on a website before.
But here’s a little bit more about my journey
This is not the 1st time I’ve decided to quit nor am I in denial that it might not be my last attempt to quit. But I’m really hoping this is the last time I say ‘this is the last time’
I’ve been on patches, chewing gum, I even tried vapors & my last attempt to quit a few years ago, I was taking champax which almost cost me my life (extreme suicidal thoughts)
I was a ‘non smoker’ after a brief dosage of champax for almost 2.5yrs and then I started smoking again.
So this time around I did my research and visited my GP on numerous occasions about this topic & my addiction to nicotine. So trust me I have definitely not jumped into this on a ‘mere whim’
My GP and I collectively decided for me to go cold turkey this time around. I have done a lot of research on different websites and after reading numerous posts and different links, I found this website to be the most rewarding, truthful, helpful and finally a website that I didn’t find any ‘trolls’ on.
Thank you once again for your reply and encouragement. I look forward to the on going positive support.

Thanks Red-67! Your words & encouragement are very helpful to me as every day I’m jumping back onto this site and re-reading all the comments and people’s posts. My husband has kept his cigarette pack with him also. He has 4 left in there and keeps them not too far away from him as he says, if he knows they are available for him to smoke then he feels better knowing he can say no to smoking. On the other hand, I’m the complete opposite! I tried keeping a few before we decided to quit together and I just kept smoking them (cut down quite abit) but within 2days my 30pk was all gone, whereas my hubby still had his 4 left in his pack.
Thanks for ur comment & advice!
