quitting smoking

I am wanting to quit smoking for my self and to give my family a better chance at life as smoking is costing $100 a week and i know i can put that money towards giving them and myself a better life but i am struggling again i have done 6 days of cutting back from 10 - 6 smokes a day but i want to quit really quickly and i find that if my partner isnt around i tend to hide half smokes and go back for them when he isnt home ( my partner and i are quitting together) and he takes all the smokes and i keep the papers as we smokes rollies and i want to save money to be able to get our selfs our own house and give our kids a better future ( i am currently pregnant) and i dont want to use patches or gum or anything that contains nicotin as i have a very addictive attitude towards things so i was wondering if there is any one on here besides my doctor that can help my try and quit. Thank you.

Hi Tiny. Welcome and you have come to the right place to start your quit smoking journey. Many people , myself included have found sites like this instrumental in quitting. Knowing you are not alone on this mission, and advice from those who have faced the same challenges is comforting and helpful.
Have you read Allan Carr's book Easy Way to Quit Smoking, which i have posted. (Click on my Name) or read my post on "Given Up Given Up. Try This!" which is a plan i think would help you get started while you research everything you can to understand the addiction to nicotine and the habit which is psychological and the hardest part to break.
If you don't fear this venture, but rather embrace it you will find the journey much easier and sustainable. Even those that take NRT (NIcotine Replacement Therapies) need this understanding to remain quit. It is a process, but one well worth the time to quit and just quit once. Understand how the cigarette has never given you anything. How you became addicted and how to free yourself from being its slave.
You do not need a cigarette to give you support in stress, or social situations, nor to calm and relax. It is the cigarette that causes most of our stress ( money problems, health issues, stink and grime) We only continue to smoke because the withdrawal make us uncomfortable but it is never ending isn't it. We are in perpetual withdrawal and endless cycle, until you make up your MIND TO QUIT and put your heart (desire) into it. Say enough, I won't be wasting my precious money, health and time into something so vile and disgusting.
The good news is , you are here and deep down want to quit. Now you need to really WANT to quit, not just have to. So many reasons to, and none left to smoke. So many improvements in our health and vitality , some almost immediately after you stop poisoning yourself with the sticks. Cravings are generally just thoughts. Keep busy and keep positive thoughts about the quit. Laugh at the monster begging for you to feed him. You are in control rather than the other way around. After just 72 hours i was free of the little devil. I had no more cravings because i no longer idolized the cigarette. I simply knew i did not want to smoke and stopped thinking about ever having one again. Cravings only lasts seconds to 5 minutes generally. Find something to do and let the thought pass . Don't dwell on it. Remain calm and Positive!
I hope this outline helps. The more you know the better equipped you will be. Read and Research. Knowledge is Power!
