This is it

Tomorrow 2/7/19 is the day I’m going to do it for good... last 4 years I have struggled to quit pretty much on a daily basis only to end up smoking even more thinking each day was my last day to smoke. Going to try to use vape sparingly and let it stick this time once and for all. I’m determined but afraid to continuously fail.

Always a great decision to quit smoking JWR. Do you plan on using nicotine in your vape? You may find your quit plan and my post "Given Up, Given Up. Try This!" helpful. Best to you in your journey to freedom!

Thanks Happiness. I am using low nicotine of .6% (claims are that it is equivalent to ultralights) i will work on lowering to zero nicotine and use your backwards quit advice. It makes a lot of sense to change the way we think and take the fear away of never being able to smoke again and if you just tell yourself you can still smoke one day but let’s see how long you can go without, days will pass and you may have tricked yourself or your mind into never wanting one again. It’s about reprogramming and starting new rituals. I’m ready to make it work because I’m exhausted from trying so much. It’s nice to know others out there get it and can relate!

best wishes!!! you can do it!!! I try to be on here daily to support others so anytime jump on here and leave a message, I am 41 days smoke free after 42 years of smoking 1 to 2 packs a day try drinking a lot of water it is helping me maybe it will help you?

First and foremost-Congratulations on your decision to quit. I may not be the best person to give advice. My first 9 days of being a non-smoker was because of surgery and then being in the hospital.
That being said, I did use nicotine patches throughout my hospital stay, and for about 3 weeks after coming home.
I also live where I have access to CBD products so I did use a CBD pen for cravings. I don't know if that's a possibility for you but it helped me.
Good luck!

Thanks Kathy! Congrats you are doing such a good job! I am only on my first day and my chest is tight like I keep catching myself holding my breath. I smoked for 27 1/2 years and last 4 years I’ve been consumed with trying to quit. I’ve used the gum and patch and cold turkey and aromatherapy but vape is only thing where I’ve gone longer without smoking. I went 6 months a few years ago and 5 months about a year ago. I don’t want to cave anymore because there is truth to even just one cigarette making it hard to pick back up to where you left off. CFor me the rebellion part of smoking in the mornings makes it hard for the vape to work sometimes. I’ve had it work before I just need to learn from the past and not allow myself to go backwards anymore...

Thanks Beth and congrats to you!!! I will check into CBD and where I can get it in States . I would love to learn about anything that can help. I know when I first started smoking and when I wasn’t addicted yet it was just the “cool” thing to do. I’m hoping vape can take the place of all those feelings. Thanks so much for the support!

I am the same. Everytime I put them down and picked them up again my smoking seemed to double. It just got to the point where it kinda scared me.
Keep going!

Thanks no smoke. It scared me too... such an out of control feeling so gonna have to find a new way and replace it. So far so good. Still on day 1 but I got past the morning which is the toughest for me. On my way! Good luck to you!

If i may ask... JWR what is your goal here? To quit nicotine period. Or to substitute its delivery? Even if your goal is to get rid of all nicotine, then i guess from your statements that you want to continue vaping to be cool.(zero nicotine, but flavoured). Vaping is new and not tested either. Admittedly it cannot be worse than smoking cigarettes, with nicotine, tar and other poisonous chemicals and compounds, however i fail to see why you would want to be a guinea pig.
Why not impress people with self pride, and a nice car, new clothes and a beautiful home to raise your wonderful family.
Anyone can quit smoking. Vaping is somewhat better. Next some may want to use CBD habitually even though you don't get high like THC in marijuana it calms you. No problem to take for a short period while you adjust. I don't know how it can be administered, but again, if smoking, you are not breaking the behavior physically nor psychologically.
The first step in your journey to freedom is to at least be honest with yourself.

I apologize for that last line that sounded harsh, but directed to others, not even you necessarily. Unless a person actually means what they write..say..claim... they cannot fool themselves. Everyone has the power to be open minded and change their way of thinking though. That is what need s to be done in this process.
Are you quit smoking today? Just using a bit of vape instead like a patch. A good move. Still i hope you consider quitting vape altogether.
Best of luck and success in your journey.

Yes, Happiness. It is my 1st day of not smoking which is why I came back to threads for inspiration only to find your posts... thanks for “support”, but it does indeed come across as harsh. If out of a comment I made clearly to someone else gave you idea that I wanted to look cool and impress people by vaping, you are so wrong. Everyone has their own ways to quit. As I mentioned my NRT method of choice is to vape sparingly a low nic level and work down to 0 nic. I have tried other methods a million times and if you look back you’ll see I have had success in past with vape. I’m aware of concerns but I need some sort of tool to quit smoking. I definitely don’t want to look “cool” at 44 years old and after smoking for 27 1/2 years. The being cool part mentioned in a thread between me and another person was only meaning how it all started when I was 16 1/2 years old (probably the same for many on here). Please don’t accuse me of not being honest with myself. I was merely sharing MY plan like everyone else on here. I realize you are trying to spread your encouragement, but I’m a bit offended with your know it all approach; especially on my 1st day of not smoking. Give me a break! Now I want a cigarette. Thanks a lot!

Thanks so much South Australia 😇 Congrats to you!!! I’m struggling but I won’t give up.
