Well, last time I was on this site I was feeling pretty good, but unfortunately I took up the evil habit again. I don’t know if this will be my final successful effort to quit for good, but I certainly hope so.

I was ok for several months, did very well. Didn’t even want a cigarette. Then went on a holiday with a ‘friend’ who, in my mind, drove me to want to have just one. Had to buy a pack and that was the end of me. As disgusting as that first one was, I stupidly persevered...and have been smoking again for the past 12 months or more, hating it every day. Just like an alcoholic can’t have just one drink, it’s the same with cigarettes. I buy the ready made rollies, $35 for 100. They taste foul and really stink, and I’ve been hoping they’ll help me to give up more easily this time. I refuse to pay over $25 for a 20 pack ever again. Mornings will be the worst habit to change, but I did it before, so I can do it again. I’ve started champix today, which isn’t for everyone but it’s proven to work for me in the past.

Hi Judes and welcome back. There is no such thing as a failed quit, ok it didn't stick but you did quit. They are practice goes for your final quit, which hopefully will be this time. You just need to realise that you are not losing anything by quitting, but you will regain control back in your life. Taking back your precious $$$, time, health and self esteem. Learn to look at those putrid little poison sticks for what they really are. They're not your friend, just a horrible addiction. Good on you for making a fantastic choice to free yourself. You know what to expect so stay strong and just take it one day at a time.

Thank you so much. You guys are the reason I'm back on here. I got (& gave) so much support previously. It really does help to not feel alone or judged :)

Hi Jude, welcome back, sorry it is in this capacity, but we know it happens and that is what we all secretly dread. On the bright side, Champix agrees with you , and you are way ahead on the learning curve. Stay comfortable on the Champix until it kicks in, kill the nicotine monster and on into your life as a non-smoker. How long do you plan on taking the Champix?

Shed all if's and butts, you will be doing a lot more supporting on here!
