Getting started

Okay so I've decided to quit smoking tomorrow, I've had more starts than Phar Lap in the quitting department with my best attempt of 7 years. I recently quit 3 weeks ago for 1 month but caved when I drank alcohol & just haven't put them down since. I'm actually really ashamed that I smoke & even hide it from extended family & colleagues. I go to the gym a few times a week, how ironic hey!! I just want to be rid of the shame & expense!!

Wow 7 years is amazing beyond it actually most smokers could only dream of getting that far. Me too i try to hide it from my family but it's pretty hard. I think it's that first smoke in the morning that keeps people going back that feeling of highness you get beats them all. But try to think positivly and know you can quit for sure and easily too.

I know I can but it's never easy. You are so right about the first smoke in the morning..... mornings are the hardest when you quit for the first week or two

Hi Robn, wow that's impressive I'm very determined to quit & it is a case of mind over matter & im telling myself excuses are for the weak Haha. Stay strong & keep up the good work. I'm going to try to have your mindset approach, it's a good way to look at flicking the monkey off the back!

Ok so I've stuck to my guns & appreciated all the advice, I'm on day 3 now & determined that I'm a non smoker & I dont want to smoke anymore. Whenever a craving comes I say to myself I dont want one at all & it's the addiction talking. I know the cravings pass, I am using lozenges as well to stay calm. So far I'm feeling quite good & positive. I'm committed to my new life😁 rid of the shame & expense, I feel free already & it empowers my determination
