Day 2 (for the 100th time)

I am on day 2 again and feeling a bit antsy, like I want to go to the Deli and buy a couple of cigars like a usually do, as a "treat". A treat for what, you may ask, they are not a treat, they are killing you.
Considering that thinking that smoking is a treat is the BIG MONSTER, and that the nicotine addiction is only the little monster, do you think that the concept of treating yourself is a good idea when quitting smoking?
I have been listening to Alan Carr, and he discusses the concept of willpower, which is hard to do, when the other alternative is being informed enough that you WANT to quit. It makes so much sense.
So, then there are three concepts used by the government quit sites, that actually make it difficult to quit smoking:-
1. The concept of replacing nicotine with nicotine (replacement therapy) - why feed the active drug addict the drug that they are trying to break free of?
2. Willpower - very good, but really, it would be much easier if you were that well informed, that you really WANTED to quit
3. The concept of rewarding yourself, when you have been rewarding yourself with nicotine for so many years, and it is not actually a reward at all. So should we replace that reward with a different reward (is that a bit like the NRT theory)? OR should we be so focussed on the positives of being free from the habit, that the thrill of being free is rewarding enough?

Hi weewillem, each attempt is one step closer to success
don't know if it will help you, but in the early stages my first year i don't think i ever referred to not smoking as quitting, it was that i was a smoker who wasn't smoking, for some reason that took the pressure of me and after the first 24 hours without a cigarette i was determined not to smoke as i didn't want to have to start again. I did have help through Champix but we each need to do what is best for us. I wish you well this time around
