I quit in 2015 fr about 3 months.....then after i started with one stick per week which soon became 7 sticks per day. and recently i was smoking a packet every day. All this time i used too compare myself with the person i was in those 3 months of quit...i had a lot of will power, i had a lot of ways and means to fight craving and remain smoke free. Just a thought that a cigarette in a week of 10 days wont make a difference specially when you are so vulnerable, the thought itself is a bad idea.

In the last 18 months i had several attempt of not smoking but none lasted more than 4 days at max. But guess what, i started feeling no joy for smoking, i will go and smoke and get depressed, but that actually worked in my favor this time around and i decided not to buy any packet. i trashed all lighter, match box, cigarettes and all other substance which may trigger the sensation of smoking.

While i did all that, here are few tips

1. identify the occasions when you feel for smoke the most. e.g mine was being lonely for hours, not many friends, less of socializing, work on these and transform youself

2. Just on a paper write your expenses around smoking. I saved 40 pound in 10 days.

3. Just to give it a try stop smoking for 2-3 days and experience the better breath. that will surely inspire you

4. if you find it difficult in one stretch try multiple times, Every try will make you more determine.

5. Don't give up on failed attempts. rather treat them as your strength, tell yourself if i can do it for this many days/hour i can do it for longer time.

6. Define a strategy to fight your craving. i started berating exercise. call my pals and ask them to talk too me for 5 min without any reason. If nothing works then climb stairs fr 4 floors

I am on Day 11 and i am determined to say it a final good bye. it may happen in this attempt or may be next or may be next to that. but this is what i am here for to make it happen. Smoking can't win over me.

Hi Gaur,

Now thats a spirit!

With that kind of determination and knowledge you can quit for good.

As you said we should not be discouraged of our failed attempts of quitting.

I've tried and failed to quit smoking at least 50 times for the last 8 years.

I am now 11 months smoke free and i feel happier than ever!

Also the tips that you mentioned are on point!

Keep up the good work!
