If at first you don't succeed . .

I had a recent scare after being in hospital (Biopsy etc) and at the time never wanted to smoke ever again.
I have been smoking for many years, sadly starting at the age of 13.
After my recent stay in hospital, I managed to stop smoking for many weeks. (really thought I had done it) was using the gum. Unfortunately either the gum stopped working or the Nicotene craving took over. Anyway started smoking again and gradually went back up to buying a pack a day.
Saw my smoking advisor again today who gave me the spray and a different pack of patches. (previous patches itched me like crazy)
Since I got back home I have been using the spray every half hour and havent had a cigarette since. In fact, since using the spray the thought of a cigarette now makes me feel sick (long may it continue)
I will make another attempt at trying the different patch in the morning (just in case) but already I am quite impressed with the spray.
I had got back to buying a pack a day which was costing me a fortune.
Will keep you updated regarding my progress but so far so good :)

Hiya Blondie,
Sorry to hear about your health scare.
Congrats on giving up!!. When I gave up, Quitline took my smoking history down as well as a couple of other things I had going on and advised they felt it best that I use combination therapy and my doctor agreed. So I started on a patch and the 2mg lozenge. They did talk to me about using the spray but my chemist put me off only because she used to smoke and used the spray but said it tasted like pepper and burnt her throat. Sounds like it's working great for you though!!! I had a bit of itching with the patch at first but then it eased. I'm 8 weeks smoke free now, no longer use s patch and didn't used the step down it patch method.
I then started cutting the lozenges in half (chemist adviced shouldn't do that because a piece may contain more nicotine than another piece) which I now understand so I used to break a 4mg one in half, ran out of those, bought the 2mg and cut them also and now I'm weaning of that and have only had 1 or 2 pretty bad cravings but I know for me, one puff would be back to full on smoking and I don't want that.
Sorry for the long post but sometimes it helps to read a positive story from someone who had used a very similar method.
If you need it. I hope the new patch works for you!!
Take care

Hey Kim i was little surprised the chemist advised not to halve the 4mg lozenge. I would have thought that when the lozenges are manufactured the nicotine content would be in a complete mixture form with other addituves that make up the lozenge. Anyway a quarter of a lozenge has always worked for me. Good luck.

Hey Johnnie,
Just to clarify, I was cutting up my allotted lozenges for the day and she said I shouldn't do that because in the lozenge itself, there are certain layers that contain the nicotine so but cutting them like I was, I may have been having more than I thought, or sometimes less. Now because I'm on next to nothing, I cut up one lozenge at a time, that way I know it's I'm not having more. I don't care about having less if that makes sense. I checked with Quitline also, they said the same thing. So to avoid potentially mixing up the ones I cut, that's how I do it now and don't have any problems. Cheers

Lol I need to watch the auto words coming from my phone. Hope you get my drift.
