Trying to quit again

Day 4 on patches and can't seem to get break the morning habit. Previously the morning cigarette was the first one I would choose to not have to help break the habit but this time it's harder. Iv cut down from 25 to 2 a day well that was yesterday. Today I one with my morning coffee and hated it actually. I'm grumpy, snappy and trying to stay so busy.

Hi Aloisi,
Are you using the cut down to quit patches? I hope so, I don't think it's safe to smoke with the regular ones. Have you tried lozenges? I have heard others say they replaced their morning smoke with a lozenge and it was more bearable.
I recommend a book called "Easyway to stop smoking". It worked for me and I just clocked up four weeks. I know it doesn't sound like much but it's the longest I've gone without smoking since I was in high school over 35 years ago :) Reading the book made a huge impact on my experience of stopping. I felt a low level of cravings for the first few days and haven't really felt any since.
Whatever way you choose, the real success is in not lighting up :) Good luck

Hi Aloisi,
The patch I use takes 3 hours to kick in. I started
out with a 2mg lozenge to help in the
morning in the beginning and that helped
me heaps. I no longer need to do that
and am at the 6 week mark with no
slip up. I used the cut down to quit method
but waited until my actual Quit day before
I tried my first lozenge.
I now only wear a patch for 8 hours a day.
Keep trying because it's so worth it.

Hi aloisi , thought i'd put my 2 bobs' worth in too! Congrats on quitting the evil weed. The little book of quitting helped me. The hard part is this-no patches,no lozenges,no tablets or nicotine replacement products at all..just stop. 72 hrs is the worst. Nibble on saladas, drink water and chew blue extra chewies(no other colour). You will make it. Just stop smoking and start walkin n chewin. i'll be thinking and praying for you. john

Well said Red. If you feel deprived you will be miserable. Last time I attempted, I just always felt that I wanted one but couldn't. This time, thanks to Allen Carr and the easy way, I have the language to control my thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I did go through about a week of depression cutting down to a few a day, while watching the videos. but I feel excited that I got through the 3 days that it takes for nicotine to leave your body. only 10 days and my energy has returned and increased. I was so scared that it would be hard, but thanks to Allen Carr, it really can be easy. It's all in the mind. I have the book and keep reading bits to reinforce my thoughts.
Hang in there aloisi. I think if you can just do that first 24 hrs, it gets easier. It won't be long before you can say "yippee I'm free"
