quitting

I started the process by preparing for my quit day. I used to drink a can of coke maybe 2 cans a day and I stopped drinking it about 5 weeks ago. So that was one addiction gone. I started drinking water with a dash of lime juice added cos I hate water. another goal achieved. I got my Champix tablets last Monday and set the date for last Friday. I smoked all the tobacco I had, started my Champix and into day 2, without a cigarette. That is huge for me as I have smoked since I was 15 yrs old and I am now 71yrs old. I am using willpower as well. Changing my habits. Instead of a cup of coffee and a ciggie this morning I had a cup of tea and some cornflakes at the table instead of going outside.

Hello Eryn, welcome to the start of being a non smoker....I have read that you have already given up on 2 of your habits, but have left the toughest habit as your last....
But it is do-able, remember every journey through life starts with a single step, and you can do it..
Stay strong, positive and determined as you focus on your goal.
Hope to read more of your new journey.

Hi Eryn, Good on you for becoming a non-smoker. You inspire me with your strength in giving up not one addiction but 3. I like your idea of having the tea and cornflakes at your table instead of going outside. Clever idea, i am going to borrow that one as I have such a struggle having my cuppa in the morning with no fag to go with it. Am going to do the opposite to you though and have my cuppa outside with cornflakes. Switching to decaf. (maybe)
I think you are great Eryn for sticking to your set date to give up the smoking. Best of luck.
Will be keeping an eye out for updates on your journey. God Bless

Well, day 5 coming to an end and still smoke free. Gooooo me lol.
Today was a test as I have been a lawn bowler for 28 years and that's where I smoked more than any other place. I played a championship game and although I didn't win the game I won the battle of the cigarette demon. I had only one piece of chewing gum (not Nicorette). The game went for 2 and a half hours so I am really stoked. Thanks for the posts Jenno and Gypsy and for your encouragement. This is a great way to be able to support and vent.
