Well I set a date to quit in 12 days. I've tried to give up before, failed of course. But can I quit for good?! I don't even know how this website works! But trying to keep positive. I love smoking :((((

Hi Kevin. Welcome to this amazing site. Why don't you just quit tomorrow? You can't load up on nicotine to help you last the journey. You can get that strength from fellow quitters on the his site. Think about it.

Hi Lia, thanks for your comment. Honestly, I'm already freaked out knowing there will be no cigarettes in 2 weeks. I feel I'm not ready yet. But I have every reason to quit it, from health and money to the mosquito bites every night when I smoke on the balcony!

I work as a cook which is kind of stressful, and have been smoking since I was 15. I know it's gonna be tough, but will try to do it sooner, maybe by the time I finish this half a pack I have. Wish me luck!

Hi Kevin, I get you completely. Ive tried spontaneous quitting, long range quit dates, patches, hypnotherapy, smoking myself sick etc. Everyones got advice and a story to share. It has to be important for you ... YOU.

Another idea Ive tried which might help, is to have your original final quit date ... but until then try as many techniques as you can to stave off the next cigarette, get some tricks up your sleeve before the Q-Day.

Stressful jobs perpetuate the smoker in us all, but everyone faces stress. The stress is actually easier to handle without cigarettes, in 5 weeks when you have cleared your body of all pollutants etc, watch how stress affects you differently. Your work mates will notice the difference.

Jump around this site, there is plenty of inspiration and strategies to help you

You can do this!!! Try to think all the benefits to quitting instead. Like no longer being a slave to the nicotine monster, being able to breath easier, clothes and breath smelling better, all the money that won't be burned up! And so many more better things that go with your quit!!

It really is not easy to think positive all the time, but do what you can!!!

I love what you just wrote Sandydee. I was exactly the same, told myself I love smoking. But really, I don't. I hate everything about it. The taste, the smell, the waste of money, the coughing, the phlegm, and especially the addiction. Just have to keep reinforcing those few things and a thousand more perfectly good reasons to give it the boot forever! So Kevin, give it a good go and even after one full day without the smokes, you'll feel better about it and maybe become more determined.
