Riding the wave

Day 6 and ironically, reading about quit techniques increases my cravings! 😊 Am finding it helpful to distract myself, and to avoid my usual triggers- alcohol and phone conversations. Also helpful to read about withdrawal symptoms and the need for self care... eg. feeling tired, having a sore chest... cant wait to be smoke free! Its also good to know of the health benefits already... Ive been smoking more than 40 years... I hope I can be strong enough!

Hey Derro, welcome to ICQ. Day 6 is amazing, well done. So you now have no nicotine in your system and it's all now down to the mind over matter bit. You have the strength in you, be confident in yourself and your ability to succeed in this. Make sure you have plenty of distractions to turn to at times of cravings. A list of jobs to do helped me, I put it up on my kitchen wall and crossed them off as they were done. Simple things like vacuuming, cleaning out the fridge, ironing. Plus some bigger jobs for the weekend - repainting the fence, weeding the patio, weeding generally..... It's a great opportunity to get some of these annoying jobs done and they really help not only your sense of purpose but they will keep you occupied. You are doing great just continue on this road and you will be completely free.

Gee thankyou so much White Willow for the encouragement and for the great suggestions. Much appreciated! Will make a list first thing tomorrow.... never been in a forum before!

hi we are all different I used an app for my phone which helped me with cravings its called my quit buddy I still use it if need it good luck

Thank you Wendy OhNo and Willson for your support.
I have been feeling REALLY tired, and also, my chest hurts as much as it did when I had pneumonia a few years ago.... feel like I have a bad chest infection, and ache all over. Great to know that these symptoms are probably just withdrawal symptoms.... will see my GP this week though, just to be sure.... and in the meantime, will try and take good care of myself.
Its also good to know how to find the quit buddy.... I had read in several stories about a quit buddy, but wasnt sure how to find one! Im a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology, but was able to download the app.
Its also good to have a bit of a time frame for when things might begin to become a little easier.
Can anyone tell me how to replace the question mark next to my name with a picture? :)
