Hi everyone,

I have to say that reading this forum makes me want to have a smoke... I hope i'm not the only one!!

Anyway, I started champix 10 days ago.

Right from the get go I cut right down... I'm smoking about 4/5 smokes a day, down from 20ish.

I am also trying hypnotherapy on Thursday. I want to do everything I can to stop. I hate it but love it... I do hate it more though.

My partner doesn't smoke but all my work mates do which makes it hard..

My triggers are times mainly... Times that I normally have a smoke...

Any tips for me would be greatly appreciated. :)

It's all about being mentally strong and recognising that the cravings will pass and you WILL be ok. Have stratergies in place for when the cravings hit and keep busy. Doesn't matter what it is but keep busy. Cook, clean, shop, crosswords, TV, knit, make something, draw, dance, walk, run, meditate - do anything and everything to keep yourself distracted. Best of luck to you.

Hi Miss Kristy, i agree on Cranky's advice. However, what i found in my quit experience was that you need to be really strong in first 3 to 4 weeks. If you can perservere this period of time then believe me it will get easier and easier as time passes. It may sound "easier said than done" yes i agree...but that is the addiction process...our bodies need to learn to cope and live without cigarettes. Use whatever nrt that suits you and mentally refrain from the craving temptations....they will pass and each day becomes a bonus. All the best.
