Day 2...

Hello everyone. I'm on day 9 of Champix and day 2 of no smoking. I'm struggling but I'm determined to get through this. I'm a stay at home parent and spend a lot of time at home, what do people do to keep themselves busy? We have a large home and I think I've cleaned every square inch of it in the last 2 days. Are there tips you'd like to share that have helped you to not give in to temptation? My partner has also stopped which I think is making things a little harder as we are both a little cranky.
Looking forward to us encouraging each other :-)

Hey there - congrats on sticking it out and making it through so far! Its you could try listening to some music or try out some audio books or read something. What works for me is to keep my mind occupied -try learning something new :)
Hope that helps!! Stick to it!!!

Hi there. Congrats on your progress. You are lucky in that your partner has quit too......my partner still smokes and believe me...THAT IS HARDER! However, I am also on champix and have been for 4 weeks. I am on day 12 smoke free. As I am petite I decided to take Half dose twice daily (a week ago)...eg. 2x .5mg.....I cut the blue ones in half.
This is not recommended for everyone but..Today I have started the process of weaning myself off.........I took no tab at all...and i feel fine, no urges. Tomorrow i will take one half tab in morning and every other day for a week or so. I play online games to keep mind on other things and hands either typing or mousing, when Im done doing household stuff. I keep sugarless lollies and chewies nearby too.I dont get any urges even though there are cigarettes around and the smell of smoke. I do get the thoughts of smoking...more like the thoughts of not smoking..if that makes sense, but these are fleeting and pass. Keep us posted and good luck.

Thank you for the replies. It's nice to talk to others who understand. I know my partner is struggling too and today has been pretty horrible so I'm just keeping to myself.
A friend of mine suggested knitting so I'm thinking I might give that a try to keep me busy considering my house is now sparking.
The sugar free lollies are a great idea, I am concerned about putting on weight.
I'm looking forward to sharing this hard but exciting journey with you all.

yes what did I do, clean, work in the garden, hobbies, internet, talk on the ph., what ever to keep mind hands distracted, I ate , just working on cutting the sugar back now 56 days .
I am a believer in the lesser of 2 evils theory :) so I ate to much I can work on that with time, stopping smoking was and still is the only goal for me. the other stuff is easier to slow down on (sugar) not suggesting to do what I did but am suggesting doing what ever it takes.
well done and keep going.

Hey Mummabear+3
I'm on Champix aswell and I have been chewing mints to keep my mind from straying towards the smoking 😊 Off them over 3 weeks 😊 I subscribed to The Art Of Knitting where they send you the books to your home to master knitting but I'm sure it could be anything tapestry crochet etc 😊 As long as it keeps us busy 😊 Good luck hunni 👌

Hey Mummabear, welcome. You are going through the hardest bit, by tomorrow it will feel a little easier. You are probably feeling a little lost and a bit unsettled. Don't worry, it's normal. IC planted carrots, I painted my garden fence. Perhaps plan little jobs that need to be tackled. You have a large home, do you have a large garden? What about working a on a small vegetable plot with your children? Knitting is good, you could knit squares and make a thrown or how about colouring in? You can do a little bit at a time, great for meditation. Let us know how you get on and if any of this is useful.
You are doing amazingly.
My partner, like Flora's, is still smoking but I have a feeling it's just a matter of time before he stops. I have said nothing to him about stopping as it has to be his decision. Will let you know what happens :)

Hi Mummabear, and welcome. I just got a yoga cd - so much about it is about mefitatipn and being calm - could be just what you need

Hi Mummabear+3
Well done! I reckon that exercise is just the best thing. Helps you celebrate those smoke free days. Take the kids for lots of walks or if that is logistically impossible, set up simple tasks in the house or yard like stepping up and down off a platform singing a stupid song, running up and down on the spot, dancing to their favourite song.
They will think Mummabear is either the greatest nerd(depending on their age if you are the performer) or the funniest Mum. Whatever, it will show them you don't smoke, you love to move and they will enjoy whatever.
The possibilities are endless(don't have a child's imagination). Maybe ask them.
Hope this helps, for all sorts of weather and age of children.

Thank you for all the encouragement and advice. I'm now on day 4 whilst it's still hard it's not as hard as the first couple of days. I'm finding that smoking isn't the one and only thing on my mind.
