feeling like a bit of a princess reading these stories. I have been on champix for 3 weeks now and have gone from 40 a day to 2 a day. still not ready to throw what is left of my packet bought a week ago in case I need them. I don't know what to do with the spare time.in my head I am associating my unit balcony with smoking, my short breaks at work with smoking. not sure how to get out of that mindset. hoping someone has some tips. :(

This might sound daft!! Have you got plants on your balcony. Find another reason to go out there. I did that with my deck, I filled it with plants to look after otherwise I swore I was never going out there again. I had certain times when I smoked, 11.00am break at work, so I changed the time and have a piece of fruit instead. After meals I wash up straight away and then water plants. None of this may work for you but its just someone elses way of getting around the triggers/associations. I quit with Champix 6 weeks ago, stopped after 10 days of taking them but only because I forgot to buy ciggies when I went to shop. Couldn't be bothered to go back and decided i'd get some next day. Never went back!! So yes, you need to find something to fill those times. By holding onto the ciggies you're only putting off the inevitable. Set a date. I think Champix are awesome. They have alleviated the cravings. Who knows what will happen when I have to stop them tho. Good luck with your quit plan :)

I used to set out there and have a smoke if it gets bad I grab a banana and sit out there and eat it , sort of weird but what ever works right !!

I to am taking Champix, 14 days before I stopped smoking, but I still carry my last opened packet of cigarettes with me at all times. Somehow this helps me deal with not smoking, I know it must sound strange, but for me it works, I chew a lot of normal gum, used the NRT inhaler and lozenges for the first little while, but the cravings have pretty much gone. Finding things to do to replace smoking will come with time, and you will find your own way. Visiting this site helps me, keep coming back and share your journey it may help someone else
