Struggling to quit

Hi guys. I am just wondering if anyone can share some tips to those trying to quit. I lasted 10 hours yesterday without smoking and I was easily able to crush the cravings by focusing on work however last night I caved in and had 2 smokes. I feel like I have failed. Is it easier to quit in the long run if I lower the number of smokes in a day down to 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM and 0 whilst at work. Will this make it easier to quit all together once the nicotine levels are lower in my body?

Hints? There are hints galore on this site from those who are hours into their quit experience to those who have notched up a few years. Take some time and read the journeys taken.

Sounds like your journey has begun, yep scroll through and find what works best for you and keep going! All the very best!

Day 23 for me, best advise I can give is to really define the reasons you want to quit and stay focused on that. I've been using patches and the odd piece of gum, they really help tale the edge off.
Keep on this site, read as much as you can. It all helps.

Oh yeah for after dinner cravings I brush my teeth after eating and then drink water. I've heard some people chomp on ice. In my first week I are quite a few lollies so this last week have been brushing instead, kind of fills the time gap and helps me...

Hey Adam, recognising my triggers was a huge help. Also having a focus, for me it was a charity run, once I signed up I knew id have to stop otherwise I wouldn't be able to do it!! Best of luck with your quit 😊

When I was in the early stages I found it difficult to stop while there were cigarettes in the house.
I ended up giving the few packets that I had away so they were not there for me.
That was over 3 years ago and I have not had a smoke in that time.

Previously I have tried the cutting down method but I found it's all or nothing. The choice was simple for me. Smoke or don't smoke. But everyones' quitting journey is different. And Lia is right, there are so many hints on this website. You will probably find some will help you whereas others wont. At the end of the day the biggest thing that will help you is your determination to quit. If it is something you really want to do you will find a way, your own way. Good luck with quitting as it is so worth doing!!!

Hello Adamw92. Congratulations on your attempt to quit smoking, and every time u don't light up its already a win, win situation on your part. A hand to mouth habit is hard to brake. So, create more distraction such a drink water, tea, candies, anything but not cigarettes. Read on how to beat nicotine addiction. And focus yourself on NOT smoking. I quit cold turkey 466 days to date. I was very determined, and motivated. I was tired of smoking after 26 years. I educated myself all about nicotine addiction. I also read Allen Carr's book on Easy Way to Quit Smoking. Well, my willpower kicked in at the same time, and I used it to my advantage. I free myself from tobacco. Now, I am very happy and no longer a smoker. You see, it can be done! Best wishes!!

I feel your pain, I hope it works out for you, Im currently cutting back and stopping in a week. I dont know if its the best method but im willing to give it a good try. Stick with it and remember why you're doing it. All the best!

I'm on day 13 of quitting cold turkey. At the end of the day I dont thinking a gradual cutting down helps because you're only putting off what you're still going to have to go through once you stop all smoking.
