Change it ALL
I am 34 years old and have been smoking for about 19 years. In addition to this I am morbidly obese weighing in at 201 kgs and I am 6 foot tall.
Not only do I have an addiction to cigarettes but I am also addicted to food. I decided on May 22nd 2015 that enough was enough and I needed to get this weight off me and live a happier fuller LONGER life. To date I am down 29.5 kgs in 16 weeks and although I have a long way to go with the weightloss, the smoking was not helping me "get there". I decided that when I hit 30 kgs loss then I will quit smoking as well and continue my weightless journey as a non-smoker. I didn't quite get to 30 kgs loss in order to quit - IT WAS COMMON SENSE AND GOD THAT SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE! Why am I training at the gym and watching what I eat when I am still UNHEALTHY by continuing to smoke cigarettes?!?!? I'm smarter than that!!! I am fighting a double battle by losing weight and quitting smoking as well - which some may say is crazy and unachievable.... I say hit me with the worst BECAUSE I DECIDED TO LIVE, NOTHING WILL DETER ME FROM MY PATH TO THE "BEST ME POSSIBLE"!! 5 Days smoke free - no gum, no patches, no pills - just FAITH IN GOD AND AN OPEN HEART/ MIND!
Here's to a happier, healthier, longer life!!

Good job. Im also 5 days smoke free today so keep up the good work and bring on whatever demons those stinkn fags can....because we are not going back

FANTASTIC! How good are you. You sound like you are completely mentally there, just hold onto that. You will feel so much better at the Gym now and you will be able to work out that bit more each time you go and continue with your weight loss. I truly think it's great what your doing. We all understand how hard quitting is as well as focusing on weight loss. I am on day 140 and have been slowly losing weight too. It is very doable. I wish you all the best. This site is a great support and I think will help you alot too. Well done, stay strong :)

Congratulations! Your thinking is inspirational. I wonder how many other quitters are experiencing a weight gain. Maybe we could share experiences on how we minimise this "side effect". This was for many of us just another excuse to continue smoking till we saw there are other
benefits.

Isn't food comforting? I am loseing weight too. I have been told to chew my food well. That way I need less of it to satisfy me. Cooking is my main daily interest. I find it fun. I smoked too much to afford good food. Now that I have cut down I can afford whatever I like. I haven't always been able to afford mangoes and avocardoes. Now I can.
