2 hours to go.

Well, I smoked for 10 years, gave up for 10 years, smoked for 5, gave up for nearly 5 and here I am 2 hours to go until I go cold turkey again. A few stressful things happening for me at present so I'm very nervous as I have wanted to quit for months but haven't been able to stick to it even for a day. I am determined and have a plan. Going to a day spa tomorrow to 'detox' and treat myself for turning this decision into action. Just terrified I will give in again. I really don't want to give in this time - I want to get fit and lose some weight and this time smoking has really reduced me to a couch potato - so much for smoking helping you keep weight off! Wish me luck. I was a silly person to put myself into this position in the first place. I know after the first few days I can quit, its just the withdrawals that test me. Has anyone used Quitline when temptation has reared it's ugly head? Is it worthwhile?

Wishing you the very best with your journey. Is there a reason you choose to go Cold Turkey? Lots of great stop smoking products to help with withdrawals :-)
Anyway you have beat it before so you know you can do it.....don't doubt yourself . Quit line is great , sometimes it just takes a chat through a hard patch
Good luck. I found it easier to look on it as not giving up but getting rid of a "person" that has done me nothing but harm and who I don't want in my life any more. I've even named it. I also use mini lozenges when my ex friend rears its ugly head.
There are some terrific people on this site that also offer lots of help and encouragement. Reading their stories let you know that we are all in the same boat. Just take one day at a time.

I say that if I can do it, anyone can do it....I am the weakest person when it comes to smoking and I am now on day 9.... cold Turkey. This website is a great help. all the best with your stop smoking adventure.

Hi 123Cats. Your post shows a real sense of determination to quit...I think you may just do it!! I can relate to being a smoking related couch potato and weight gain. Very clever to have a plan. My biggest concern about quitting was putting on weight so my plan included stocking up the fridge with veggies cooked in all sorts of ways accompanied with low fat dip so that I could nibble on them like I would with a bag of chips or chocolate. I did this for the first two and a bit weeks and it helped.

Hi I have used quit line and found them great, they offer good advice when you need it and can help you get to your next goal . Heaps of encouragement on this site and good advice as well sooooo.............. Keep checking in we all love to see how we are all going . All the very best.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and best wishes. I've had a slip up today. Not sure I can keep going even though I was free for 4 whole days. I've had a couple of cigarettes (husband still smoking). Started a new role at work and am stressed. Feeling a bit depressed to. Any advice would be great.
