You can do it.. I was a smoker for 45yrs.. I gave up the wine first though, because it made it easier to quit smoking.. I haven't had a smoke for 13 days today.. So I'm now a non smoker..

Thanks for that Cheeky 1. Yeah see how i go giving up my couple of afternoon wines. Start champix thursday as my husband works away and comes home that day for 2 weeks so thought that would give me more support. Started my first gym classs this morning for first time ever and started Tai Chi last week . So sort of have a plan also going to see Eagles concert in Sydney another plan to give me something to look forward to hope it works.

Hi Drama queen, Guess what I'm here to give you a massive excuse to start champix. Today marks ONE YEAR since I smoked a cigarette, and it's all thanks to champix. In the 19 years I smoked I tried many other ways, I even convinced myself I wanted to smoke because I too considered it my friend, but now I could not be prouder. My biggest achievement so far and it can also be yours. Give it a go, what's the worst that could happen????

hi dram queen,

i am on 6th week of quitting. i had same problem to start. it is all the work of nicotine which is making your mind fool. first you treat yourself as patient and will be patient for ever ,for quitting. then you dont feel that your are quitting smocking but think that you are becoming an Ex smocker. this will help to over come the ego of not to smoke and emotional black mail of nicotine. after you quit within 3-4 days nicotine will be flushed out of body, during this period you feel most craving which is good sign of recovering . as days rolls craving becomes lower and lower. dring lot of water, juice. do some exercise/yoga. more over enjoy the quitting process. it is not an event but it is a contineous process.

I know exactly how you feel about loosing your best friend. I have been on Champix for nearly 3 weeks but quit smoking today. The tablets caused so much nausea I had to go back to Drs for anti nausea medicine that really helped. The hardest thing is the hardest thing is when I get a thought of having a cigarette then have to remind myself I don't smoke anymore. Good luck on your journey.
