Champix attempt #4

Well, I am so keen to quit, I'll try anything twice!
It feels strange writing on here about my experience but I'm hoping someone can give me some information on their experiences with Champix (or any other smoking cessation).
I'm going to my doctor on Thursday to hopefully get another lot of Champix. My first experience on it worked wonders, I was pretty well smoke free for a year, but I do remember having occasional drags of a friends, not sure if that was in the later part of that smoke free year. I began smoking again when I was meeting new people at work. The 2nd time I don't think it lasted as long, I did quit how ever, but I began developing odd down moods and once again fitting in with new work and my sister (who is a smoker) her boyfriend passed away, so I gradually took it up again. The 3rd attempt didn't work very well at all, I'd just lost my job (I quit due to harrassment) and I was trying to study, I lived in a shed and had no real social interaction besides my husband when he wasn't working. I even started to drink by my self to get over being lonely!
So what I'm trying to find out is, has anyone had mood/behavioural side effects from Champix? How did you combat them? Or do you think the champix will work just as well if I am (very) deter mand and only stay on them for 2-4 weeks just to initially get off the smoking merry-go-round?

hi shez,
I quit smocking by cold turkey. according to my study that is the best and effective. first of all you break from all works and commitment at least for 10 days. treat your self as life long patient whenever you think of smocking. lot of water, fruit juice, fruits and carrots are your medicine. try 5 to 10 deep breath atleast half an hour these days. observe that your craving starts minimise and disappear within a month. whenever you inhale and give more oxygen to your blood your craving go on diminish. try saulted ground nut whenever crave. try yoga. best of luck.

Hi Pravi,
Thank you so much for your reply!
I haven't given up an I haven't gone back to champix. I've got another prescription for zyban which I haven't yet gotten since no one has it in stock and would have to order it in. I'd prefer to go cold turkey! I attended an allen carr seminar which was enlightening but several hours later I felt anxious. The allen Carr method explains that you don't get pain from nicotine withdrawal, I get pain from anxiety instead though.
What is saulted ground nut?
And how are you going being smoke free? I'd like to hear all the benefits you are having and any more tips. No one around me wants to give up smoking, even my mum has COPD and is back smoking! So having a discussion about it is a bit tricky!
I'll set myself a routine with yoga and deep breathing now and especially when my anxiety kicks up a fuss, I know cigarets do no help what so ever!!
