Hi Cozza

Im 20 days short of being a year smoke free after smoking for nearly 30+yrs. Stick to your guns and start from next week. I stopped on Champix and even with that it took some willpower, nothing is a miracle drug it just makes your journey a tad easier but worth all the blood, sweat and tears in the end.

I drank loads of water especially when a craving hit me in the beginning. I also nibbled on strong cheese as its gross to smoke after eating cheese. My 1st 2 weeks I went for brisk walks at work/ home and did deep breathing exercises, skipped morning coffee as that was a trigger too. AVOID anything that might trigger you to smoke. Make a string of beads to keep your hands busy. Its not only the addiction that you need to break but also the habit. Do try not to replace your smoking habit with an eating habit or you will pick up weight, if possible try and take up some form of exercise, I still go to gym and I can actually breathe when I do cardio.

When you quit a whole new world of taste and smell opens up to you! Every time you get the urge to smoke think of it as a wave and "ride" it till it hits the surf because the urge is only an emotion.

GOOD LUCK!! Its worth every bit of effort, I promise

Hi Cozza, good on you for deciding to quit! I smoked for 35 years and can proudly say I am on day 30 with no smokes. I too did it on champix, it really helped a lot! But like Mix said, you have to want to quit as well, but champix definitely makes it easier. You have to check with your doctor to see if it is right for you but whatever method you decide to use, you just have to be strong and keep envisioning yourself as a non smoker. Think about being able to take a deep breath and feel nothing but clean, clear air, no wheezing or coughing, it's an amazing feeling! Think also about how good you will smell, your teeth will be whiter and your eyes brighter. You have so much to look forward to! And for me, lots of water and exercise has really helped. All the very best to you, you can do this!

Great Plan you have! This quitting of cigi's is a life saver. It's your life.

stay occupied and don't get bored. avoid stress. avoid triggers that can be avoided. It's all possible to do. And like, if I can do this then SO CAN YOU!

I'm on day 50 cold turkey. the first 72 hours was real hard for me. Then the next 11 days it was easier. After that is got even easier for me. Today I crave 5 times a day for less than 1 minute each time. My number 1 crave is stress caused by computer games. It used to be waking up but now I think coffee time which is just so much better.

Give it a shot. You have started already by having a plan and a desire to quit.
