Champix Day 1

Hey Guys,
I've just taken my first tablet of Champix on my renewed journey to give up smoking. I'm 23, have smoked since I was 16 ( with about a year off with previous quit attempts) and have been told that if I don't quit smoking, bronchitis is essentially going to kill me before I'm 30.
Does anybody have any tips that may help me along the way? I've always faultered in the past and taken smoking up again, and REALLY can't afford to let that happen anymore.
Thanks

First up Candykid13, well done on making a start on your quit smoking trip. The best tip i can give you is you really have to want to give up. What helps me is the amount of money or the real story is TAX that the government is putting on. I pay enough tax as it is and i am not giving them anymore. I have had many attempts but this time after 36 years of smoking i am going to do it. You should read as many stories as you can off this site as people give the greatest advice throughout the pages of stories. Mind set is the biggest thing and you will see that written by many X-Smokers. I am now only 26 days smokes free but i am going to stay that way and be smoke free for the rest of my life. Set your mind, use your tablets and drink water. Use this web site and i wish you the best of luck. Take control of YOUR LIFE and don't let them filthy disgusting smokes rule you.

The best tip I can give you is to realise that YOU are the one that has to give up, any tablet or patch is only there to help you, they won't do it for you.

I found the main thing for me was motivation , just gaveling my kids there to encourage me and lots of distraction ,found patches and gum very good also , good luck and just keep telling yourself over and over that YOU can do it :)

If you suffer from bronchitis I would keep the dust down and spray lavender. I have reduced my smoking from 55 cigarettes a day to sometimes only having 1. I put essential oil in a household spray bottle. I use about six or seven drops of oil, to a bottle of water. This helps me to breathe more comfortably. I have used this to freshen my house as I am asthmatic. It also helps me cut down. I am having terrible trouble since I cannot use champix or zyban. Keep doodling paper and a pen handy when your on the phone. If you feel overwhelmed break your day into more manageable parts. Like, one hour, or until your evening meal. I have cut down enough for my food to satisfy me. That after the meal smoke is no longer an issue for me. Visualise yourself handling situations differently. Imagine what you will do instead. Give yourself the power to do anything. If a person can think it then it is possible. Make your own LUCK.

Thanks everyone. I'm more determined this time than ever before, so hopefully life is good to me and doesn't throw anymore curve balls to make me cave before I'm well and truly over it.
