Hi all.

Well - here goes. Ive been smoking since I was about 15 years old (I'm 44 now) and I have turned a serious corner and really dont want the darn things anymore. A freind said that when I quit smoking, I'm "not giving anything up, but instead, I'm gaining". So I dont say "I'm giving up smoking anymore".  However, as any smoker will admit, cigarettes are a part of my life. Quitting means making changes in my personal day to day habits. Thats what bothers me the most. When I have morning tea, I dash out for a ciggie. When I have a cup of coffee, I have a ciggie. After I have a meal, I have a ciggie. When I'm bored, I have a ciggie..etc.  So this is my chanllenge. Finding new things to do with myself, and I hate having my daily routine dictated by a bad habit. Gues, I'm very disappointed in myself for getting so stuck into cigarettes.

Hi Eric - I'm the same. Certain activities throughout my day mean ciggie time. I like the idea of gaining something though. I think I will use this too! I've been told that rather than trying to stop a habit, we should try to replace it, so I might pick up the water bottle and have a skull everytime...

Nice to know someone is the same as me....
