24 days smoke free...

Posted in Hints and tips 14 Apr 2011

Well it's been 24 days since I quit smoking. I was a packet a day smoker for 18 years and finally worked up the courage for my first quit attempt. Decided to go cold turkey, no patches, inhalers or tablets. It's definately the hardest thing I've had to do and I've been terrible to be around but hey, I feel so proud of myself, as do all my friends and family. The first week was definately the hardest (there were even tears involved!) and I still have terrible cravings but I have to say the majority of the time I'm no longer thinking about it. I've also started to notice that the smell of cigarettes is no longer appealing to me - can't believe that I used to smell like that!! Well let's hope I can continue to stay smoke free.

Hi SmokNoMore, I read your blog and felt extremely inspired. I have tried to quit many times using all sorts of methods, but your story has made me think about cold turkey. I know i will be a grouch, teary and sad for awhile, but if i can keep in mind that it wont last forever and i wont die, then it will all be worth it. Thankyou for your words of wisdom. Stronger
