Hi Lulu2011! Happy New Year. I see that you are a new member. Me, too. My reason for quitting my addiction (to TV) seems to be similar to yours: for my family.
I think about all the lost opportunities to be with them, for them, enjoy them. But that isn't the truth, really. These opportunities were not lost, misplaced somehow. These opportunities were squandered: I was responsible.
Now that I willing to address that fact I feel I have choices. I am the master of my domain and I get to say how I spend my time, the actions I take. Doesn't mean it is easy. I just means that I am finally taking responsibility for my life. To be clear, I do not like that I behaved in ways that were self destructive, but I am through beating myself up for that behavior. Today is about accepting my behavior and choosing to take a different path.
There will be highs and lows on this journey and I love it all because, for the first time in a very long time, I feel like I matter, I feel like I get a say in what happens in my life.
Welcome to the community!

Welcome Lulu, could you give us a brief history, how long etc, and any Nicotine replacement Therepy. You are spot on with Never Give up, the best Mantra for me after trying for a few times was NOPE (not one puff ever), this has seen me nearly 2 years smoke free after a break of 3 years and starting up again. Avidd has adopted us on this site and we are happy to have him, if for one reason your attitude puts you ahead if you can get out of your own way. Keep learning keep happy and include yourself in one of your reasons to quit

Some more good news! We have you as well as Maddog to welcome to our community. You are never alone here and you will learn alot if you read our stories. Finding reasons, and there are plenty, is only the tip of the iceburg! While quitting for loved ones, we know that as much as you love them and want to do right by them, it is ultimately you who WANTS to quit.
Find the want, the DESIRE. Envision the future and all the good it brings to your future. More money, better health and the FREEDOM! When we let anything dictate our lives and we realize what we are missing out on, it makes us only more determined to change our ways.
I am glad when we are able to help someone believe in themselves. It can impact so many other things in your life. Have the courage to change the things you can. DESIRE will find a way to get you there!
